Cittadella

Yesterday we took a day trip to Cittadella, pronounced Chit-ta-della. About 2 hours down the road toward Vincenza. The city was built in the 13th century, and this medieval walled city was once a fortress town. Brick walls, four gates, and many towers and turrets surround this charming little city. Thanks to the careful restoration there is a parapet walkway around the perimeter of the city in which you can see the whole city and multiple vineyards in the distance. Within the walls you'll find a Duomo-Cathedral, with frescoes & fabulous altarpieces. Next door to the cathedral is a small museum with a good collection of religious shrines and furnishings. Just outside the walls is the oldest church in Cittadella called the Chiesa di San Donato. We also found a great little park right outside the city walls where the girls got a chance explore and play a little.
